Meet your host- Brian Park, owner of Valhalla Ranch.
Brian is a successful "former" banker. He sped through the chain of command to own his own bank. Brian sold the bank in 2000 and started two businesses. Valhalla serves as a strong hold for the largest whitetail deer in Michigan. The ranch is a very successful property that teaches you as an intern everything from wildlife management to business. Either by working on the ranch or helping Brian manage Valhalla, you will learn more than you could imagine. From one intern to another be warned... it is not an easy task. Prepare to be thrown into the frying pan and into the water but for those who are brave enough the payoff is worth more than the risk. This was one of the best learning experiences I have found yet. |
Remember that payoff I mentioned? How does one free hunt sound? With the internship comes one free guided hunt on a whitetail scoring up to 140 inches. If that was not enough, there is the treasured Au Sable river flowing through the property. This river offers legendary fly fishing and long relaxing floats down the river.
Educational As an intern at Valhalla you will get one of the most well rounded educational experiences available . Work with the ranch hands or side by side with Brian to learn what it takes to manage a business. You will get to work directly with Brian to develop new skills such as purchasing, production management, marketing, sales, accounting, and his favorite, problem solving. One thing I picked up on that I hope all interns get is the ability to figure things out. Brian is a huge fan of letting you learn by trial and error. After a semester of that I can honestly say the way I approach problems has changed. |
